|The Blue Wave Meets the Red Wall|
|In American, the mid-term elections have nearly come to a conclusion, with but 15 congressional districts out of 435 still to be determined all the eventual winners.
This is the way it is now, in the US.
The Democrats took control the lower house of Congress, and with that fact, President Trump will officially have someone/something to ’tell him what to do’ and he will have to answer for. We only wait for the exact number of seats the Democrats will hold, but they have more than the 218 needed for control of the US House of Representatives.
This will be the 1st time in the life of Donald Trump, he will soon be held accountable for his actions and decisions as the 45th President of the United States, by this now split Congress. The judiciary has ruled against some of his decisions already.
Trump has always been his own Boss and growing up with pampered wealth and went into business, at an early age, by borrowing money from his father.
The New York Times has investigated, based on confidential tax returns and financial records, that the eventual future president received the equivalent today of at least $413 million from his father’s real estate empire, as a toddler and continuing to this day, according to the New York Times https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/10/02/us/politics/donald-trump-tax-schemes-fred-trump.html
If and when he got into financial difficulty, his father was always there for him, accountable only to pops.
Today in the US.
But in the American two party system, majority rules, and the House is now Democratic and the Senate remains under the firm control of Trump and his Republican Party, now – after two years - molded into the image of President Trumps’ policies and his limited legislative achievements.
Only a few Republican Senators were willing to challenge their president in his 1st two years in office. One has since passed away, Senator John McCain, and the others will have retired come January 2019. Congress now is call ‘lame duck’, meaning simply biding time till a new Congress is sworn in come January; based on last week’s election results.
Being president is all about Donald Trump – Me First
Memory serves us all as in 2015, candidate Tramp proclaimed ‘’I know more than the generals’’. Additionally, he when so far to claim, ‘’only I can fix it’’ and ‘’I can be a businessman too and run the American government at the same time’’, no problem he told us.
It that is not about ‘Me First’ then nothing is!
But Donald Trump still does not comprehend that he is not the boss he thinks he is when it comes to the affairs of the American republic. Being president of the United States is not like being president of a personal corporation, no matter how big that private corporation is. The US constitution does not allow it.
Three Branches of the US Government.
The US federal systems is composed of three ‘’and equal’’ parts of the American government. The Executive, with the elected leader, the President of the United States, The Judiciary, at the federal level tasked with interpreting the US constitution, and of course, Congress where all laws originate, made up of two bodies, the lower House of Representatives and the upper House - the Senate.
The Founding Fathers believe a check on the political power of a single person, the elected leader of the US government – remembering full well their European experience with King George II, and the basis of the American Revolution in 1776.
Today, the president is in for a rude awaking.
President Trump has gotten his way with the Congress being under Republican control for two years, and with the mid-term election, that comes to the end. Things will only get more chaotic in the United States with these the two branches of government.
The House shall challenges him on ‘everything’ 1st by trying to protect the Mueller investigation, in which a special prosecutor was appointed, to look into possible meddling by the Russians in the 2016 election, and that is only the start. His report is due soon.
Donald Trump has been accused of violation of the emulsions clause of the US Constitution Article I, Section 9, Paragraph 8 that generally prohibits federal officeholders from receiving any gift, payment, or other thing(s) of value from a foreign state or its rulers, officers, or representatives, either directly or indirectly.
Trump real estate properties throughout the world, and especially his Trump Hotel in Washington D. C., a short distance down the street from the White House, have all seen increases in occupancy from foreign government representatives to the US and some could construe this as a violation of the emulsions clause. He has not totally diversified his personal business interests from that of being President. 1st he would be called to give reason that he has not violated the US Constitution that would intimately result in a Supreme Court challenge. He will of course oppose this all the way.
The other way President Trump will be ‘told what to do’ is with his taxes. Trump in the 1st president in modern history to fail to reveal taxes to the American public based on his lame excuse ‘’I am under audit’’. From Trump’s perspective, ‘this audit’ will never end, thus – he will NEVER reveal his true tax obligation; as 1st it will help identify his true net worth vs. what he says and 2nd, possible monies received in the way of loans for the massive business empire he contends he has built as a private citizen, especially from the Russians, and now rumored from Saudi Arabia as well.
And that is only the beginning of what is to come from the Democrats whose leader – the future #3 in the US government and Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Polosi come January. Under her, Trump will be forced to deal with congressional Democrats who now have the power to stop his agenda, promote their own and launch a myriad of investigations of Donald Trump.
At a recent press conference, the President was questioned about is future relationship with the Democratic controlled House, and responded ‘’if they challenge me, I will challenge them – two can play this game’’, again showing is ignorance for the rule of law in the US Constitution and his personal self interests (he believes) ‘I am the law – I can do no wrong’. Whereas the Democrats will respond, ‘’we are doing our constitution duty to hold executive power in check’’.
Unfortunately, this will have possible huge consequences in the United States, including beginning with the possible shut down of the federal government, as the president will now not receive from Congress necessary funding he wants to ‘’build that wall’’ at the border with Mexico. All issues on government expenditures begin in the House.
Likewise, the US financial systems – thus the world as well, can react to the US situation, as to what is going on politically in the US, and create havoc on fragile economies such as Greece, Italy and others.
The US presidential race for 2020 has already begun.
There will be no less that 20 Democrats that will fight it out amongst themselves to challenge Donald Trump for the US presidency in the election of November 2020.
Possibly, some moderate Republican may well too challenge their leader to represent the Republican Party for the US election – as was the case in 1980 when then Senator Ted Kennedy challenged (and lost) to sitting president Jimmy Carter to represent the Democratic Party against eventual winner Ronald Reagan. It can be said. What happens politically in the US can have positive as well as negative consequences for the rest of the world, and that can well include Cyprus between now and the next US presidential election, less than 24 months away.
The Trump agenda for the next two years can best been seen as more extremism and now political conflict with Congress.
The best or worst is yet to come from Donald Trump, depending on your political view.
